Plastic is a durable material made to last forever, yet illogically, 33 percent of it is used once and then thrown away. Plastic cannot biodegrade; it breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces.

After losing both parents, Jaden Hayes a 6-year-old boy wants to make others smile!

Two years ago, Jaden lost his father. Last month, his mom died unexpectedly in her sleep. He has a lot to be sad about, but instead he has decided to make strangers smile.

After attending a funeral and a viewing, he just got tired of people with sad frowny faces, so he asked his aunt, Barbara DiCola, to help him…

Tasha Compton, DiCola’s daughter, has been keeping track of Jaden’s “mission” on her Instagram. Now people started sharing photos of themselves using #thesmileexperiment there are more than 1,900 posts tagged with the hashtag.
